The Two Greatest Skills in the Age of AI

Recently, I was learning about cold emails and how cold emailing works. I was using a software called Instantly.ai where you can have multiple inboxes, create campaigns, send personalised emails for each lead, and manage multiple lead lists. It’s basically a full suite for cold emailing and outreach marketing.

However, the software isn’t free. The free version has many limitations in terms of features and usage time. Because of those restrictions, it became difficult to continue using it effectively.

Then one of my friends suggested something interesting:

“You’re a software developer. Why don’t you just build the same application yourself?”

That idea intrigued me.

So I decided to take on the challenge and build the software from scratch.

Since this is 2026, and everyone has been hearing about the latest developments in AI, you might not guess how long it took me to build it.

It took just one day.

I used tools like Lovable.dev and Claude AI to build the entire software from scratch.

This speed of development amazed me. But it also raised an important question in my mind:

Is software development becoming obsolete?

AI today can build almost anything you can think of. And if some people argue that AI still can’t handle things like DevOps or infrastructure, I would say:

wait another five or six months.

The exponential growth we are seeing this year might far exceed what we saw in 2025.

This made me think:

If AI can perform most technical tasks, which skills will remain valuable?

What are the skills that:

After thinking deeply about this, I realized two key skills.

1. Ideation (Thinking)

AI is trained on existing data from the past. But life constantly creates new problems and new experiences.

Every new experience can generate a new idea.

That’s why ideation is difficult to replace.

Anyone can build another Instagram. But the real question is:

What unique feature would you add that makes your version 10× or 100× better than Instagram?

The ability to generate such ideas is the skill of ideation.

2. Marketing

Marketing is the second skill that becomes extremely important.

You can have the best ideas and build amazing products, but none of it matters if people don’t know about it.

You must market your ideas.

Marketing is one of the most powerful skills you can learn because:

But a product has zero value without real users.

And users will only come if the product is marketed properly.

Marketing is not just about selling a product. It is about:

In a world where AI can build products faster than ever, the real advantage is no longer just technical execution. Tools can generate code, automate workflows, and even create entire applications in hours.

But ideas still come from human experiences, and successful products still depend on human trust and attention.

And that’s why I feel the two skills I personally need to work on are:

Ideation and Marketing.
